In the midst of our crazy weekend, we did manage to make a delicious meal and enjoy the holiday together. We had all the staples: turkey (deep fried this year - outside), green bean casserole, sweet potatoes overflowing with marshmallows, cranberry sauce, mashed potatoes, rolls, waldorf salad, deviled eggs, stuffing, and pumpkin pie (which Rachel thoroughly enjoyed, see below). However, I regret to inform you that my signature chicken-n-dumplings did not survive this year. We had to borrow our neighbor's pot (who actually came over early that morning to borrow a cup of sugar - how funny!) and I apparently didn't know how to use it correctly. I scorched the bottom, contaminating the entire batch with a nasty burnt taste. We sadly left it in the kitchen and didn't even put it on the table. RIP chicken-n-dumplings. There's always next year.
