The fitness center at Baptist Hospital turned 25 last week. In celebration, they spent the entire week honoring the decade in which they were born. (Great idea, huh? I think they got it from us.) They blasted 80's tunes over the speakers, posted a list of 100 things that indicate that "you might be from the 80's," conducted trivia and costume contests, and displayed tons of pictures of classic 80's images on the walls, including TV shows, movies, toys and musical artists.
With all this memorabilia surrounding us in the mornings, Brad and I couldn't help but get nostalgic as we thought back on our childhoods. This fond reminiscing inspired me to launch a week-long blog series of posts dedicated to the totally rad era.
Since Brad and I were babies in the 80's, I feel that it's fitting to begin the series by focusing on the great cartoons we woke up early on Saturday mornings to watch. Here are some of my favorites:
The Care Bears, with their Care Bear Stare
Rainbow Brite
Ducktales, Whoo-ooo
And no compilation of cartoons from the 80's could be complete without the Smurfs!
Do you remember these gems? Can you still sing along to the theme songs? What favorites of yours did I not include?
