Dates with Dad

Over Memorial Day's extended weekend, my dad had the chance to come down and spend some time with us in Tennessee. And by "us," I really mean "me," since Brad had to work every night. But that was okay with me. It gave us the opportunity to go on some father-daughter dates, which we haven't seen the likes of since we went to see Addams Family Values and eat at Cracker Barrel waaaay back in the day when I was little. But just because I'm all grown up, now, and out of the house with a husband of my own doesn't mean that I can't still be a daddy's girl!

We spent each evening going out to dinner together (Chedders, Red Robin, Hickory Falls, Mmmm...), and we even went to the theater for old time's sakes, and caught the late showing of Robin Hood. He's for real going to kill me for posting this picture of us, but I seriously love it! We had so much fun together, and even though he insisted that I delete the goofy picture right away, I can't help but enjoy his silliness. (Love you, Dad!)

Brad works the night shift, 7 PM to 7 AM, and then needs to sleep during the day to prepare for the next evening's work. As a result, Dad didn't get to visit with him much while he was in town. In an effort to facilitate some group time, we met Brad for some breakfast when he got off work at 7:00 in the morning. None of us had ever been to Pancake Pantry, even though it's supposedly a Nashville Hot Spot, so we took advantage of the early morning hours to sample it's pancakey goodness. Yummy! Then we all went home and went (back) to sleep!

I think it's safe to say that we weren't the only ones glad for Dad to visit; Chester loved cuddling up with his papaw, nearly as much as Dad enjoyed spoiling his granddog.

There's our weekend in a nutshell. How did you spend the time of your extra day off?
